Honda's New Robot Claimed to be Most Human-Like Yet.

A new robot from Honda Motor Co., Ltd., is said to achieve an unprecedented human-like ability to walk and perform small, but significant human tasks. The new lightweight humanoid robot named ASIMO (for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) was demonstrated at Honda's global headquarters in Tokyo last month. According to the company, ASIMO is part of its plan to "create a partner for people, a new kind of robot that functions positively in society."
At 3.9 ft. high and weighing less than 100 lbs., ASIMO is smaller and lighter than Honda's earlier humanoid robots. The smaller size was chosen to allow it to operate freely in a human living space and to make it people-friendly. The robot is able to perform tasks such as operating light switches and doorknobs....
