* Siemens Solar Industries, L.P., and PowerLight Corp., both of California, have formed an alliance to manufacture PowerLight's PowerGuard solar photovoltaic (PV) roof tiles at Siemens' Solar Module facility in Chatsworth, CA. The companies built a new production line at the facility, capable of manufacturing up to 20 megawatts of PV roof tiles per year, primarily for commercial use in Los Angeles.
The tiles are part of a lightweight roofing assembly designed for flat and lowsloped roofs. Use of the tiles is encouraged by incentive programs.
