The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced last month it will partner with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy to promote the Energy Star program throughout HUD's affordable housing programs. The intent of the partnership is to improve the energy efficiency of affordable housing stock while protecting the environment.
The Energy Star label is used to identify energy-efficient products such as appliances, electronics, and heating and cooling equipment, as well as buildings and new homes.
