High Point -- Six out of the 10 retailers on Kids Today's second quarter scorecard posted revenues gains, and five of them had double-digit increases. Top honors went to Bed Bath & Beyond, which reported a 34.9% increase to $776.8 million, from second quarter 2001 sales of $575.8 million. In dollar increases in sales, Bed Bath's $201 million was dwarfed by Wal-Mart's $6.9 billion increase and Target's $996 million jump in sales.

Wal-Mart sales were up 13.1% and Target sales rose 11.3%. Bed Bath also took the lead in same-store sales gains, recording a 13.2% jump for the second quarter of 2002, compared with the year-earlier period.
