I read with interest Ron Noon's article `Goodbye Mr Cube' (October 2001). In my late husband, William Crofts' book, Coercion of Persuasion? Propaganda in Britain after 1945 (Routledge, 1989), the same subject is dealt with in detail, as well as other anti-nationalisation campaigns.
However, William Crofts reached a different conclusion from that of A. A. Rogow, as quoted in the article. `The anti-nationalisation campaigns contributed to the decline of Labour's share of the total vote in the 1950 and 1951 elections'.
