One comment in John Burnett's article ('Eat Your Greens', March 2006) puzzled me--he says 'one successful innovation being the introduction of school milk in 1934, a third of a pint a day for 1/2d, half the normal retail price ...'. Yes, we used to take 2 1/2d a week to school on Mondays, to save the teachers collecting every day.
However the price of a pint of milk was only 1 1/2d--we did not get ...
