Terrorism insurance.(Treasury Department's survey to evaluate effectiveness of 2002 Terrorism Risk Insurance Act)(Brief Article)

Emergency Preparedness News, October, 2004

TERRORISM INSURANCE. Select insurers and policyholders have begun receiving questionnaires from the Treasury Department as it conducts the second wave of its survey of the terrorism risk insurance market and the effectiveness of the 2002 Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA). The answers provided by participants, who were selected to achieve a nationally representative sample, will help Treasury track changes in the insurance market over time that are due to TRIA provisions and gauge the capacity of the insurance industry to provide affordable coverage if those provisions lapse.

A final report is due to Congress by June 30, 2005. Survey forms are due to Treasury by Dec. 8. Contact: Westate (company administering survey), (888) 891-6883, www.TRIAsurvey.org.
