Mill Set to Modernize.(Madison Paper Industries)(Brief Article)

Graphic Arts Monthly, February, 2001

Madison Paper Company, a wholly owned affiliate of Myllykoski Corporation of Finland, announced a major modernization effort at its Alsip, Ill. mill 10 miles south of Chicago that is intended to transform the mill into a domestic supplier of lightweight coated (LWC) paper. The $100 million project is scheduled to begin late this year with the change-out of the existing deinked pulping and papermaking operation to state-of-the-art processing and manufacturing technology.

Say company officials, the mill will produce 120,000 tons of high-recycled-content LWC paper per year, to be available for sale early in 2002. Following the modernization, the mill will produce paper for catalog and magazine applications.
