On January 1, E. Russell Drechsel was slated to become president and chief executive of Madison Paper Industries (MPI), Madison, Me., succeeding Leroy J. Barry, who was to become senior advisor to MPI and its parent company, Myllykoski Corporation of Finland. Drechsel had served as MPI executive vice president and chief operating officer. MPI is a partnership involving Myllykoski and The New York Times Company.
Also, Kevin J. Kuliga succeeds Barry as chief executive of Madison Paper Company-Alsip; Kuilga has served as president of the Alsip, Ill.-based company since its formation in June 2000.
In November, MPI marked the 20th anniversary of the start-up of its #3 machine in Madison with completion of a $52 million rebuild.
