Plans to levy a toll on drivers in German cities has created something of a stir, even though the regulations for the introduction of congestion charges have not yet come into force. PTV (Karlsruhe, Germany) believes that its RideShare system could help drivers keep moving and save money. As well as providing software to help communities create online ridesharing websites, PTV offers a package which searches and determines the best possible rideshares in terms of time and money, taking street and time information as well as individual preferences into account.
