NeoPhotonics acquires LightConnect and OpTun to extend product line for next-generation reconfigurable optical networks.(MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS)

NeoPhotonics, a global supplier of fiberoptic component and module solutions for core, FTTx, and other broadband networks, announced the acquisition of LightConnect Inc., of Newark, California, and OpTun Inc., of Santa Clara, California LightConnect is a manufacturer of MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) based components and modules for the fiberoptic communications industry, with products including Variable Optical Attenuators (VOAs), Blockers, Dynamic Gain Equalizers (DGEs), and Dynamic Channel Equalizers (DCEs). OpTun is a developer of Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC)-based Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexers (ROADMs). Terms of the acquisitions, based on a combination of cash and stock, were not announced.
