Virtual bunny IPO.

Investment News, January, 2000 by Graff, Sam

While the broader market was reaching new tops, the IP0 market was reaching for new bottoms, as it were. That is to say that Playboy.com Inc. filed for an initial public offering. The new dot-com is, of course, the Internet arm of Playboy Enterprises Inc., which got its start as a magazine depicting women wearing long ears; fuzzy tails and little else.

The web apple hasn't fallen far from the tree. The announcement says it operates "Playboy-branded web sites targeting the entertainment and lifestyle interests of young men," including Cyberspice.com, "a site featuring premium adult entertainment." There's also Playboy auctions; where more mature readers can auction the old magazines that escaped the notice of their mothers: Or their wives.
