A top marketing executive has left Salomon Smith Barney Inc.'s consulting group to join Phoenix Investment Partners Ltd., the money management arm of Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Co.
William P. Rice joined the firm, based in Hartford, Conn., in January. He is a senior vice president in charge of corporate development and will report to Philip McLoughlin, the firm's chairman and CEO.
Mr. Rice will focus on wealthy investors as well as alternative investments and e-commerce.
Mr. Rice was not available for comment. Phoenix Home Life plans to demutualize and go public this spring or early summer. The firm is in the middle of its mandated quiet period before the stock offering.
The move comes on the heels of a busy year...
