Fired life agents are latest group to seek EEOC intervention Another group of fired agents says that Allstate Corp. has given them the back of its hand. The company in June fired 683 life insurance agents and offered them the same deal that it had given to almost 6,500 property and casualty agents fired last year -- to come back as exclusive independent contractors without benefits.
But the response has been the same. At least one life insurance agent says he filed a complaint in March with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in anticipation of the firing.
