* Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners LP in New York has hired Salim Shariff 54, as executive director and portfolio manager for its liquid-markets portfolios. Mr. Shariff's responsibilities will include assisting with hedge fund manager selection as well as portfolio construction and performance monitoring.
Mr. Shariff joins Morgan Stanley from Toronto-based Northwater Capital Management Inc., where he was a managing director.
