OppenheimerFunds to enter retirement income arena; Joins slew of firms shifting focus to distribution phase.(News)

Byline: Rick Miller CHICAGO - As part of the effort to attract and retain the assets of retiring baby boomers, OppenheimerFunds Inc. is poised to be the latest entrant into the retirement-income-planning arena. "We do anticipate that in late February, we will be coming out with a tool that advisers will find very helpful to help their clients with the income phase of retirement,'' said John Davis, assistant vice president and retirement product manager at OppenheimerFunds in New York.

He declined to disclose further details. Fidelity Investments in Boston set the standard with the launch of its comprehensive retirement-income-planning program in June, and a number of financial services companies are preparing to release their own versions, or...
