Social Security seen essential, study shows.(Short Interests)

Byline: Aaron Siegel NEW YORK - Golfing, fishing, gardening and Social Security? It looks like there has been a change of plans. According to Wachovia Corp.'s Retirement Fitness Survey, more than 80% of consumers said that Social Security would be important to their retirement well-being, and 51% said they were changing their retirement preparation strategies.

"There are a significant number [of people] that rely on Social Security that will have to work longer or maintain a different type of [financial] position once they reach a certain age,'' said Robert L.
