Byline: Lisa Shidler Most Americans are focused on Labor Day this week, but some in the financial services industry are trying to spotlight 401(k) Day on Friday. The Sept. 8 holiday marks the 11th annual celebration focusing on 401(k) plans. It is sponsored by the Profit Sharing/401(k) Council of America in Chicago.
Financial advisers and plan providers use the holiday to encourage participants to bolster their 401(k) savings plans and to remind them that retirement may not be that far off. The council's website offers tools that advisers can use to promote 401(k) Day, including this year's theme, "Trading Places.''
