Samsung Electronics says it has completed a full lineup of high performance, high-capacity smart card products with the 256KB EEPROM embedded smart card. The company claims that its S3CC9EF is the world's highest-capacity smart card IC. Ideal for a broad range of applications, such as the UIM (user identity module) and USIM (universal subscriber identity module) for GSM/GPRS and IMT 2000 handsets, Java cards, multimedia products, and electronic passports, the S3CC9EF features a 256KB EEPROM, 384KB ROM and 8KB static RAM to meet the specifications of high-performance smart cards and SIM (subscriber identity module) cards.
The S3CC9EF comes with a 16-bit CalmRISC CPU and triple DES, the standard symmetrical key encryption. The IC is fast and highly reliable in...
