Kirk Pond, President and CEO of Fairchild Semiconductor, sat down with Electronic News to discuss Fairchild's growth potential in the power management business. Excerpts:

Electronic News: How much more room is there in the power management market for growth?

Pond: We've got about 10 percent of the $15 billion power market, and this market is supposed to grow to $25 billion in the next three or four years. Systems are more complex, people want lighter and more portable goods, and there are some government regulations driving it.

Electronic News: How about outside of the power management market?

Pond: We do have some non-power areas that are growing pretty quickly, We call them signal path products, which are a relatively small...
