Magal Security Systems Ltd has developed a new perimeter intrusion detection system called DIR. The system will be installed along the length of the rail line linking Los Angeles and Norwalk, California. The system was designed to detect objects along the rail lines which could be dangerous to trains traveling at high speeds. The company has also begun supplying video detection systems to clients in Israel and abroad. These systems can distinguish between harmless objects and intruders, and track movements within prescribed areas. Upon detection of an intruder a siren goes off in the control room, the intruder appears on a screen, and the system continues tracking his movements.
