Tadiran powers Ericsson. (Tadiran Battery Division will sell lithium batteries to Ericsson EGE Mobile Communications USA)

The Tadiran Battery Division has signed a three-year, $27 million contract to supply lithium batteries to Ericsson EGE Mobile Communications USA. The lithium batteries can be used to power cellular phones and portable computers. Division Managing Director Ilan Kessler said the deal was a breakthrough for the company. Tadiran officials said lithium batteries could become an important energy source for the rapidly expanding wireless communication and portable computer markets. Tadiran lithium batteries are roughly 60 percent smaller in weight and volume than nickel-cadmium batteries.
