Madrid picks I.I.S. (computer network controllers from I.I.S. Intelligent Information Systems)

I.I.S. Intelligent Information Systems recently won a tender to supply, service and support computer network controllers for the city of Madrid. The project was part of a broad effort by the city to upgrade its communications and computer networks and to make new maintenance agreements. I.I.S. beat out such international giants as IBM, ICL and Memorex Telex in clinching the deal.

The Madrid municipality bought 50 controllers of the 4000 series for Token Ring networks in the mainframe environment from I.I.S. An industry source estimated the cost of the devices at $5,000 each, making the deal worth approximately $250,000. The controllers connect remote work stations throughout Madrid.
