Purchases of the Volkswagen group in Israel in 1994 totaled $6 million, primarily in automobile spare parts. The German automobile manufacturer is obligated to carry out off-set purchases in Israel that bear some ratio to the value of the sales of its automobiles in this country. Volkswagen's local agents announced that, in addition to the spare parts, other firms in the group, which includes Audi and SEAT, also bought air conditioners worth six million Deutschmarks.
