Northern Telecom buys Israeli software.

The U.S. communications company Northern Telecom has bought 1000 copies of a software program manufactured by Applicom Israeli Industries in a deal worth $500,000.

The software, called "Tim Conference," enables engineering teams working in different locations to jointly develop new products. The system enables its users to simultaneously see, and work on, the same application, each at his own station.

Ronen Shilo, development manager of Tim Conference, said that Northern Telecom was the system's first big customer, and that he was confident that before the end of the year two further major companies would adopt the system.
