Leumi equity return rises 8.7 percent. (Bank Leumi le-Israel)

Bank Leumi has announced a dramatic 162-percent rise in second-quarter net profits of NIS 71.8 million, compared with NIS 27.4 million in the same period last year. The first-half net profits figure achieved growth of 84.4 percent, totaling NIS 241 million against NIS 130.7 million in the first six months of 1994.

Net return on equity for the half rose 8.7 percent, compared with 4.9 percent on June 30th, 1994. Shareholders' equity totaled NIS 5.87 billion, compared with NIS 5.63 billion at the end of 1994.

Operating income in the first half of 1995 was NIS 870.5 million, down 7.5 percent from NIS 941 million in the corresponding period in 1994. Operating expenses rose 0.4 percent to NIS 1.57 billion.
