ECI wins BT HDSL systems contract.(ECI Telecom, British Telecommunications, High bit rate Digital Subscriber Line)

ECI Telecom has announce it has been awarded a contact by British Telecommunications (BT) to act as BT's sole supplier of HDSL (High bit rate Digital Subscriber Line) transmission systems. The agreement, which followed a lengthy technical evaluation stage, is said to be worth over $18 million.

According to the terms of the contract, ECI will supply BT with its ExLine2 product which extends the range of 2 Mbit/s transmission services over existing unconditioned, twisted, copper-pair wiring without requiring the installation of repeaters. ExLine2 extends the range of standard 2 Mbit/s transmission networks by up to three times the normal distance and is used for connecting G703 networks, such as telephone exchanges, ISDN-PA (primary access), PABXs, computer and data...
