VW adds to local shopping list. (Volkswagen increased procurement of Israeli automobile parts)

Giant German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen (VW) increased its level of procurements in Israel during the first half of the year to DM 11.5 million from DM 9.6 million in the first six months of 1995.
Robert Fischel, deputy managing director of Champion Motors group company Amkol -- Engineering and Industry, which represents VW's procurement interests in Israel, attributed the rise in acquisitions here to the German company's global sourcing policy.
VW's global sourcing program involves the tracing of manufacturers anywhere in the world which compete with VW's procurement proposals in terms of quality and price. Fischel said that, to date, Amkol receives between 50 and 100 procurement proposals a month which are aimed at Israeli manufacturers. ...
