Engineers open their doors Changing technology isn't the only thing that affects an engineer's work life. The roles engineers play--how they interact with other departments in their company, how they influence product development, and what they do all day--are changing almost as fast.

Three-quarters of the engineers who responded to EDN News Edition's 1988 Job Satisfaction Survey report that their roles are changing, and nearly half say those changes have increased their involvement with the manufacturing or test organizations within their companies.
