Motorola, LSI ease on-chip test NEW YORK, NY--Heeding the complaints of subsystem and system designers who say they're burdened by mounting testability and manufacturability issues, Motorola and LSI Logic are moving to make inclusion of on-chip test less painful for ASIC designers. Both companies will incorporate their methods into gate arrays first.

The test methods themselves will be licensed from IC tester makers Schlumberger ATE (San Jose, CA) and Cross-Check Technology (San Jose, CA), respectively. These companies will each develop ASIC-verification systems, including all relevant software, that exploit their on-chip test methods.
