Tek digitizing scope puts real-time DSP on 1-GHz signals BEAVERTON, OR--Tektronix took the spectrum-analysis bandwidth lead for digitizing oscilloscopes earlier this month. Its DSA 602, a so-called digitizing signal analyzer, pushes the industry trend toward incorporating real-time digital signal processing (DSP) within scopes one step further, to 1 GHz.

Others in the hunt, which picked up considerable speed this month, include Hewlett-Packard, LeCroy, and Philips. By interleaving four 8-bit, 500 M-sample/sec digitizer channels, Tektronix's entry captures repetitive or transient (single-shot) signals at 2G samples/sec with a maximum bandwidth of 1 GHz.
