Intel, Philips push DVI, CD-I multimedia SAN FRANCISCO, CA--Digital video interactive (DVI) technology stayed one step ahead of compact-disk interactive (CD-I) multimedia at the International CD ROM conference here last week as Intel Corp introduced hardware and Philips introduced authoring environments for their respective multimedia schemes.

The Philips' tools offer a bridge to CD-I that didn't exist before, but unlike Intel's DVI introduction, they are still not capable of handling full-motion video. The announcements come on the heels of IBM's introduction of multimedia products for its MicroChannel architecture. These products include the M-Motion Video Adapter/A audio/video display card and the associated M-Control programming language. ...
