Off-line PWM "supply on a chip" debuts MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--The first monolithic, commercial-grade chip to combine a power MOSFET switch with analog and digital control circuitry was introduced here late last month by Power Integrations Inc. Add to the chip several external devices and you've got the world's smallest 3W, pulse-width modulating, off-line do supply, at less than 1/2 [in.sup.3], claims the company.

The PWR-SMP3 operates at 1 MHz, outputs 150 to 200V dc, handles 400 mA peak, and offers isolated, regulated dc. The PWRSMP3 can operate directly off a 120V ac line, enabling it to be mounted directly onto a plug. Output transformer selection determines dc output.
