Space station funds come crashing to earth The USE space program is the most likely sponge for absorbing out-of-work engineers laid off due to the slow-down in military spending; that's according to observers of the aerospace electronics industry. Yet national budget pressures and escalating criticism of NASA make congressional and popular support for a major NASA buildup questionable.
