Sequent shows multi-'486 box at Uniforum DALLAS, TX--With its release of the Symmetry 2000 multiprocessor system at last month's Uniforum, Sequent Computer Systems (Beaverton, OR) joins Corollary (Irvine, CA), Everex (Fremont, CA), and others that have announced 80486-based multiprocessing architectures. Sequent, which was one of the first multiprocessor system houses to endorse general-purpose [mu]Ps, uses up to 30 Intel 80486 [mu]Ps in its new system.

Such system introductions at Uniforum and similar shows reinforce the message that, as the mangement information systems (MIS) and Unix words continue to merge, so too will the industry witness the taming of large-scale multiprocessing technology in the form of new multiprocessor systems based on...
