FOLSOM, CA--Intel Corp this week announces a 1-Mbit flash memory with a secure 8-kbyte block to hold a PC's basic input/output system (BIOS) software for faster and more reliable "boot up." The segmented 128k X 8 part allows users to load updated BIOS software without fear of losing the existing BIOS if the system fails during an erase/write session, and it enables PCs to reboot quickly after a power outage or similar event, promises the company.
