BEAVERTON, OR--Analogy Inc this week became the third electronic design-automation software supplier to offer an alternative to the venerable, language-based SPICE analog simulator.

The company's Graphical Model Generator, an add-on tool to its Saber simulator, enables users to enter designs in schematic form. Specifically, user choose from more than 500 symbols within menus to place the functions or components in the schematic and can then test them entirely within the Saber simulation environment.

Taken together with recent SPICE updates from Cadence Design Systems' Analog Division (see February 7, pg 1) and Valid (see May 2, pg 22), Analogy's announcement heralds a new offensive on conventional SPICE design strategies. Such support for...
