Unix versus Windows NT: The controversy continues.

In the Dec 3, 1998, issue of EDN, technical editor Maury Wright wrote an editorial about Unix and Windows NT. We've been flooded with comments; some are reproduced below. Unix is what NT wants to be when it grows up. Even I have to admit that the market-share handwriting is on the wall, though.

The Tucker was a better car, and OS/2 was the better OS, but where are they today? I hope the future IT people in college now discovering Linux and FreeBSD won't allow Microsoft's marketing to brainwash them. Jamie Bond I agree that Unix is not for everyone, but Windows? Please recognize Windows for what it is: a mediocre OS, riddled with bugs, whose performance is hobbled by backward compatibility. I agree that it's better than Apple's OS. But I think...
