HEWLETT-PACKARD HAS CONTINUED its onslaught of the technical-computing market with new products in both the application-server and the workstation markets. At the high end, the new PA-RISC-based N4000 Technical Server targets the growing trend of capable departmental computers that can handle the most demanding EDA applications including simulation of high-end ICs. Meanwhile, desktop horsepower continues to rise, and HP's new P- and X-class personal workstations leverage Intel's newest mP, the Pentium III, and better graphics capabilities than earlier Intel-based offerings for HP.
