Even as telephones and switches go increasingly electronic, you still need a source of substantial power to develop the ringing signal for the telephone unit itself. The pc-R502-925 from Powerdsine Inc is a ring-generator module suitable for pc-board mounting. It delivers as much as 50W of sine-wave output at 17, 20, 25, or 50 Hz and 45 to 86V rms (equivalent to 50 REN at full output). You can select output frequency and amplitude via analog or digital control. The module, which operates from a 36 to 72V-dc source, has an internal crystal oscillator for high-accuracy, low-THD waveforms.
