DIFFERENTIAL CONNECTOR HANDLES 2.5 GBPS.(from Fujitsu Takamisawa America)(Company Business and Marketing)

EDN, April, 2000 by Travis, Bill

A matched-impedance connector series from Fujitsu Takamisawa America accommodates data-transmission rates as high as 2.5 Gbps with less than 1% crosstalk at 100-psec rise time. The FCN-260(D) connector series handles differential-signal transmission but is equally effective in single-ended systems. Tests show crosstalk lower than 1.5% at edge rates of 35 psec.

The first product in the series is a board-to-board stacking system with a height of 14 mm. It has a contact pitch of 0.635 mm and controlled differential impedance of 100V. Integral ground/power blades separate each signal pair, and the centerline of each signal pair forms a virtual ground plane. Sequential mating provides hot pluggability and ESD protection, and a self-aligning feature facilitates...
