The IEEE Computer Society is offering free online training to its members with the launch of its new Distance Learning Campus at http://computer. org/distancelearning. Members can take any of 100 interactive, Web-based course titles in 17 subject areas. Subjects include Java, project management, Cisco, Windows-network security, Unix, and HTML. Many courses focus on helping computing professionals prepare for certification exams.

Access to the campus is available from anywhere with a minimum 56-kbps Internet connection. The campus is personalized, with preassess-merit testing, progress tracking, and self-paced study.
