THE QUESTION OF THE DAY lately is invariably related to the tech economy. And too often the person I'm conversing with laments the lack of a killer application to drive our economy to health. Well, I've never bought the concept that a single killer app will rescue us. Instead, I believe that the bandwidth afforded by the still-ramping Net will enable tens, if not hundreds, of compelling bandwidth-eating applications--ranging from music to video to who knows what. One such application, playing games online via consoles such as the Xbox and PlayStation 2, rolled out in the past few months. And now that I've tried it, I predict that it will prove to be very popular.
