Programmable ADC measures motor-phase currents in variable-speed motor-drive-control systems.(Integrated Circuits)(Brief Article)

EDN, October, 2004

The two-chip, optically isolated ADC interfaces directly to microcomputer- or DSP-based motor-drive systems. The HCPL-7560 isolated sigma-delta modulator allows direct measurement of current with a current-sensing resistor, and the HCPL-0872 digital-interface IC is programmable to allow trade-offs between resolution and speed.

Both ICs operate at -40 to 75[degrees]C; HCPL-7560: $4.63 (1000); HCPL-0872: $2.44 (1000). Agilent Technologies Inc, 1-877-424-4536, www.agilent.com
