The International Fabricare Institute (IFI) is protesting conservation measures proposed recently by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)--particularly one to reduce the workweek by a full day in the case of an "energy emergency." It would be almost impossible for most cleaners to cut a day out of processing, says Charles Riggott, IFI's executive vice president and general manager, so the only answer is an exemption for the fabricare industry.
