Finally, piececounts are on the rise at many plants, and the outlook is getting brighter. With natural growth occurring, much of the hard work of recruiting and retaining top customers seems less necessary. It's a chore, and probably one you'd like to give up.

As piececounts were falling by anywhere from 3% to double digits over the last several years, many operators began to recruit and manage their best customers diligently using point-of-sale (POS) systems. Such attention likely reduced losses from double-digits to keep business steady during this long period of industry shrinkage.
