Analog Devices, Inc. has debuted two members of its "dBCOOL" family of ICs to provide PC OEMs and motherboard manufacturers with new options for thermal systems controllers that can lower fan noise in notebook and desktop PCs. The ADT7460 and ADT7463 can optimize fan speed for systems in which internal configurations such as PCI or AGP add-in cards may be installed or for systems operating in external conditions of restricted inlet airflow. These ICs also offer multi-zone thermal and multi-channel voltage monitoring, providing a single chip way to monitor and control fan speed based on up to three thermal zones, and for measuring power supply voltages to ensure operation within specified limits.
