Axis launches complete Linux computer on a single chip.

Axis Communications has announced the availability of the AXIS ETRAX 100LX MCM 2 8, a system-on-a-chip that integrates 2 MB Flash, 8 MB SDRAM and an Ethernet transceiver into a single chip with a 27 mm X 27 mm footprint. The chip is designed for networked devices such as wireless access points, digital video recorders and access control, and security systems. The ETRAX family of processors is intended for Ethernet-connected embedded systems running Linux. The software development kit for the ETRAX 100LX family is based on the standard Linux 2.4 kernel. The processor also includes a Memory Management Unit (MMU), which enables memory protection and full software compatibility with Linux applications.
