Traquair Data Systems has announced the ultra-compact UC139a-1 Firewire interface and embedded DSP multi-chip module. The UC1394a-1 combines the resources necessary to interface and control almost any hardware peripheral. It is a 30 mm X 36 mm PLCC surface mount device. An on-board Texas Instruments TMS320C5509 DSP Processor operating at 200 MHz, a Xilinx 50 kGate Spartan[R]-II FPGA and 400 Mbit/sec dual port IEEE 1394a Firewire interface, together with a variety of serial, analog, and configurable digital I/O resources, provide developers with software programmable capabilities for IEEE 1394a Firewire connectivity, embedded peripheral control, signal processing and image processing. The modules can be used as plug and play or programmable resources.
