Molex has introduced its SFP RJ-45 1000Base-T transceiver. The adapter provides an integrated, high performance, full-duplex data link for communication over unshielded twisted pair Category 5 copper cable. It is hot pluggable, allowing SFP-compatible modules to be changed without an interruption to system power. It complies with the SFP industry multi-source agreement that allows 12, 24, 36 and 48 port densities. The SFP adapter features a zinc backshell to improve heat dissipation and EMI performance. A bail latch eases adapter extraction from the SFP EMI cage. The adapter supports autonegotiation for full-duplex, master/slave, automatic MDI crossover and pause flow control over the hosts SERDES and/or the Category 5 interface.
